My Conversation With Kyle Korver

After the parents and the dancers parted ways at the Jazz game, I decided to take a shortcut to our seats through the tunnels on the floor. So when we went past security, I walked down the stairs to the floor level under the seats. I was walking along by myself, happily saying hello to security guards and various ESA employees, feeling pretty confident that I was walking around where the "cool" people do, when suddenly, from out of nowhere walks Kyle Korver. Now, I have to explain that he is the newest player on the Jazz having recently been traded from Philadelphia for Gordan Giricek, and Sean and I were discussing him on the way to SLC. Anyway, I was taken by surprise seeing someone so famous walking right toward me, that I didn't know quite what to say. We did, however, have a conversation that went something like this:

Me (rambling quickly in my head): "Holy cow that looks like that new guy on the Jazz but now I can't remember his name why can't I remember his name we were just talking about him in the car a half hour ago wow he really does look like Ashton Kutcher and boy is he tall and I'm all alone and my family isn't here to see him where is Davis that would be so great if Davis was with me maybe I should say something to him before he walks by but what do I say my brain feels like mush oh no here he comes . . ."

Me (barely audible): "Hi."

Kyle Korver: "Hi."

And then I walked, stunned, to my seat because Ashton Kutcher, Oops, I mean Kyle Korver, just said hi to me.
